πŸ‘ΆπŸ‘ΆπŸ‘ΆπŸ‘Ά The Edge of Lost, by Kristina McMorris

It is rare that a novel can span so many decades, and remain completely engaging throughout. This was a compelling coming-of-age story of a young immigrant from Ireland. Shanley Keagan was an admirable, loyal orphan who made his way in the world through a series of misfortunes, along with intermittent serendipitous events.

I loved how the author told Shan’s story from the present, then the past, ultimately intertwining the two, seamlessly. The history of Alcatraz fused into the novel was mesmerizing, as were the hints of history of the Italian mafia. McMorris undeniably did her research, and did a fabulous job weaving her saga in with historical facts.
