I came upon this novel as an Audible sale item. With such rave reviews, I thought I’d give it a try. I didn’t mind the “Then and Now” narrative, but some thoughts did become somewhat scattered in this format. Additionally, the story of his ancestral discovery was unengaging, and I personally didn’t think it was really relevant to the main story.
Having said all of that, I give Cumming credit for coping so well with the cards he’s been dealt in life. He is certainly a very forgiving human being, more so than I would’ve been under the same circumstances. His story was tragic, but his resilience is astounding.
