πŸ‘ΆπŸ‘ΆπŸ‘ΆπŸ‘Ά Salt to the Sea, by Ruta Sepetys

I have heard so much about Ruta Sepetys’ genius, that I finally decided to open one of her books to form my own opinion. Indeed, she is a master with words for the younger generation, and I am excited to share it with my children as they get older. I am absolutely stunned (and embarrassed) that I knew absolutely nothing about the greatest maritime tragedy in the history of the world. Sepetys certainly enlightened me, and did her homework prior to weaving this marvelous tale of the human spirit during WWII.

Of course, being a young adult novel, the storyline can be somewhat puerile at times. Also, although it is on several book lists in high schools around the nation, I will caution that the material is certainly graphic and intense, and requires full mental maturity to be able to stomach this story.

Bravo, Ms. Sepetys, for bringing to light such little known facts that should be included in our history books. Your perspicacity is commendable.
