Beneath a Scarlet Sky

What a phenomenal story brimming with terror, eventual hope, and ultimate acceptance, on a road that never quite led to full redemption. Pino Lella is an extraordinary individual, who conquered so many obstacles throughout his young life. Mark T. Sullivan offered extraordinary insight into the history of a young man who witnessed so many unimagineable horrors in a time of abominable genocide, ultimately having to work with the enemy in order to secretly assist his people in the Italian Resistance. Sullivan wrote in a prodigious manner, captivating his audience with a true story that read like a fictional, unfathomable tale. The people involved in this narrative were so intriguing and multifaceted, and the author kept my attention as Pino traveled his extensive journey from the beginning to the end of this atrocious war, as it infiltrated Italy. Pino's resignation to many of the outcomes of his grievous situation was heartbreaking, but it spoke to the reality of so many individuals affected by WWII.

Thank you Mr. Sullivan, for sharing such a worthwhile story, and Mr Lella, for allowing your story to be told.
