Michelle Obama is such an inspiring human being. It is rare for me to give a memoir 5 stars simply because, many times, such books are a self-absorbed, egocentric recollection of one's experiences. However, I never once felt that way while reading this autobiography. Instead, I recognized that it isn't necessary to have the same political affiliation as Mrs. Obama to recognize this as a genuine, relatable, and straightforward memoir. It is only once Americans humbly attempt to understand others points of view, that we can bridge this political divide.
Michelle and Barack are truly altruistic individuals. Despite the nonstop criticism they each endured, there is no denying their humanitarian efforts and values, their unbreakable bond and true devotion to one another, and their contagious charisma. All of these characteristics make this power couple so irresistible. Now, more than ever, I truly appreciate Mrs. Obama's dignity through the storm... and what a storm it was. There was so much that we, as American citizens, never knew or could even fathom, and they both brought such a sense of integrity to the White House - one that I certainly miss in our current political maelstrom.
