The Power

Hmmm... this one was just a bit too much for me. Too much violence, too much language, too much suspension of disbelief... I struggle with novels that rely so heavily on the shock factor, that one has to sift through it all for the good stuff. The plot was strong enough without all of the egregious additions. Moreover, call me a traditionalist, but some of the behavior the women exhibited in light of their new-found freedom seemed a bit excessive. Yes, there is certainly a portion of the female population that would react in such a manner, but I just don't see the majority in this category.

However, the concept was certainly unique and the novel moved along at a fast clip.
