πŸ‘ΆπŸ‘ΆπŸ‘Ά: Afterlife, by Julia Alvarez

Afterlife
In her newest novel, Afterlife, Julia Alvarez delves into an exploration of grief and familial obligation in this melancholy novel about immigrant and recent widow, Antonia Vega. While the various aspects of the story were compelling, the characters themselves were never fully fleshed out, so I never developed an attachment to them. In addition, such important issues were touched upon, but lacked the depth truly necessary to explore such topics.

Alvarez writes beautifully, but this particular novel fell a little flat for me.
