๐Ÿ‘ถ๐Ÿ‘ถ๐Ÿ‘ถ๐Ÿ‘ถ: The School for German Brides, by Aimie K. Runyan

The School for German Brides
Historical Fiction is most certainly my OTL when it comes to books๐Ÿ˜! And this beautiful story is no exception. I learn something new each time I read an HF novel! I had NO IDEA there were actual bride schools for women of the Reich, and what a unique point of view to write from.

We were introduced to Hanna, a young, motherless German woman who becomes unwillingly engaged to an SS officer and eventually enrolled in this abhorrent school, and Tilde, a young German Jewish woman who fights to keep her family in tact in an ever-crumbling world. The women's paths eventually cross, and they each show their interminable strength. Through Hanna, Ms. Runyan really makes her readers consider how many women must've been swept up in the horror of defending the Reich involuntarily.

All at once, this novel was heartbreaking and inspirational, terrifying and redemptive, and I enjoyed both storylines equally (which is not always the case in multiple POV stories). I will mention that the actual "school" didn't come into the story until maybe 3/4 of the way through the novel. So the title may be a bit misleading simply because there is so much more to this rich story.

Many thanks to partners @bibliolifestyle and @williammorrowbooks for including me in this wonderful book tour and gifting me with such a beautiful copy.
