The Midnight Library

I generally don't love novels that deal with "what if" scenarios, because they seem to me to indicate lack of gratitude... The whole concept of "if only I had taken this other path, would my life have been better?" just annoys me a bit, tbh. But somehow, this author did it just right! I appreciated the fact that he pointed out that any path one takes may still not be "perfection", as is the hope. The running theme that every life has its ups and downs and each person takes a unique path struck a chord with me.

"𝑰𝒇 π’šπ’π’– π’‚π’Šπ’Ž 𝒕𝒐 𝒃𝒆 π’”π’π’Žπ’†π’•π’‰π’Šπ’π’ˆ π’šπ’π’– 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒏𝒐𝒕, π’šπ’π’– π’˜π’Šπ’π’ π’‚π’π’˜π’‚π’šπ’” π’‡π’‚π’Šπ’. π‘¨π’Šπ’Ž 𝒕𝒐 𝒃𝒆 π’šπ’π’–. π‘¨π’Šπ’Ž 𝒕𝒐 π’π’π’π’Œ 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒂𝒄𝒕 𝒂𝒏𝒅 π’•π’‰π’Šπ’π’Œ π’π’Šπ’Œπ’† π’šπ’π’–. π‘¨π’Šπ’Ž 𝒕𝒐 𝒃𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒕𝒓𝒖𝒆𝒔𝒕 π’—π’†π’“π’”π’Šπ’π’ 𝒐𝒇 π’šπ’π’–. π‘¬π’Žπ’ƒπ’“π’‚π’„π’† 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 π’šπ’π’–-𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔. @mattzhaig uniquely transformed the age old question of "Why me?" into "Why not me?", and allows readers to understand that the grass isn't always greener on the other side.

To boot, Nora's adventure was so imaginative & took place in a library! And who doesn't love such a quotable novel?!
