For me, all the days leading up to Christmas are so super stressful that Christmas and the following week are the most wonderful days for me! Now I have time to read and enjoy these days free of school and the usual obligations! Yay me๐ค๐ค๐ค!
It was wonderful to finally read a Christmas novel, and this one was as sweet as apple pie! This little holiday treasure was given to me last Christmas by one of my Booksta Besties, Cara!
On to the review... Fannie Flagg is an excellent writer and Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafรฉ was a hit for me! So I was so excited to delve into this southern fiction Christmas fun! Right away, the characters leapt off the page and I just let my heart be swept away by the stories. The narrative was charming, comforting, and hopeful, so if you're willing to suspend disbelief for a short time and want to believe in miracles, this is your book!!!. You'll find yourself in a true island of misfit toys, where the underdog reigns supreme. This novel would make the perfect Hallmark movie!
I'm the type of person that has a hard time suspending disbelief unless it's a dystopian or sci-fi novel. So although I truly enjoyed how it was all neatly wrapped up at the end, I must admit there were several eye-roll moments. Nonetheless, it was enjoyable and just the thing for my entry back into reading after the hustle and bustle of the holiday!
