๐Ÿ‘ถ๐Ÿ‘ถ๐Ÿ‘ถ The Crown, by Nancy Bilyeau

I had high hopes for this book based on several positive reviews, but alas, it was merely a mediocre read. After an exciting introduction to the heroine, it became a bit laggard until the crux of the novel, which was mostly predictable. It was difficult to keep all of the "sisters" straight, with only a few of the names sticking with me. I often had to reference back to figure out which character she was referring to. In addition, the conclusion did not impress upon me a desire to read the sequel.

To the author's credit, her research was sound; however, it was nothing new to historical fiction readers of this time period. Bilyeau did a fine job of intertwining all of the characters lives, however.
