๐ถ๐ถ๐ถ๐ถ The Lost Wife, by Alyson Richman
Haunting... heart-wrenching... magnificent. I am in awe that the ending was based on a true story that the author was told about. The stark contrast Richman paints between the privileged life that the main characters once led, followed by dramatic vicissitudes of fortune, was truly an aspect of the holocaust I'd never thought of, to be quite honest. The author was incredibly skillful in her historical depictions. I did feel as though it needed just a little more at the end... the reunion description was so vague; so abrupt. What truly began as a central storyline, was not nearly as developed as it could have been. I felt sad not being able to rejoice along with Lenka and Josef after the many years of separation, and what we came to learn about their history.
