๐Ÿ‘ถ๐Ÿ‘ถ๐Ÿ‘ถ๐Ÿ‘ถ The Light Between Oceans, by M.L. Steadman

Incredibly moving... tragic... I listened to this novel on Audible, and was glad to have a reader with a genuine Australian accent to really make the experience that much more authentic. The only dilemma I faced was the inability to highlight the touching life lessons that some characters (specifically Tom) quoted. The setting was picturesque and Steadman did a fabulous job describing it. I was taken with the author's ability to make Izzy and Tom's seemingly immoral decision, seem almost understandable. I sympathized with all of the characters and truly felt Izzy's suffering, Tom's empathy and uncertainty, and Hannah's agony and ultimate compassion. I would've preferred that the author delve deeper into Izzy's ultimate regression and how they wound up at their journey's end. The last quarter of the book felt rushed as the author concluded the story; I much preferred the overly-descriptive writing style in the beginning to the quick summation at the end.

Read 3/13
