๐Ÿ‘ถ๐Ÿ‘ถ๐Ÿ‘ถ๐Ÿ‘ถ Love Warrior, by Glennon Doyle Melton

Let me begin by stating the most obvious part of this memoir: Glennon Doyle is an absolute wizard with words. In this raw, moving, and thought-provoking memoir, Ms. Doyle shines as a beacon for many women who have walked a path similar to hers. However, it is most surprising for those of us who have not walked this path, who go into the memoir expecting to dislike her and her candor - we too end up seeing the light of her beacon, but in a different way.

If I'm honest, I wasn't too excited to read what I understood to be a how-to-live book written by someone who was still on an unfolding journey of self-discovery. Little did I know that this is actually the premise of her entire book: that we are never quite done growing, discovering, and awakening, and that the truth of this should be embraced. It was during this realization, that I was able to reconcile this lady who spoke of her marriage to a man, and the beauty and pain of that journey, with the current-day Glennon who is now married to a woman, and on a completely different path. As I read, I was often moved to tears, sometimes surprised by bouts of laughter, often frustrated with her decisions, and deeply affected in unexpected ways. Her truth allowed me to gain a better understanding of why so many people in this world struggle; Ms. Doyle has gifted me with an empathy I didn’t know I lacked.

Many thanks to Flatiron books and Goodreads for gifting me with this book in exchange for an honest review.
