๐Ÿ‘ถ๐Ÿ‘ถ๐Ÿ‘ถ The Awakening, by Kate Chopin

The Awakening

This novel was certainly written before its time. It delves into societal expectations of females as far as motherhood and marriage. Some of it is as accurate today as it was in the 19th century, when it comes to disparate notions of men and women. However, we've come a long way in our acceptance of independent, capable women such as Edna. Of course, the writing is a bit archaic, as would be expected of such an old novel, but it is also lovely for that very reason. However, despite what was considered a scandalous plot back in the day, is rather drab in this day and age.
