Veronica Roth is back with another dystopian novel! Yes, for fans of the Divergent series, Ms. Roth has returned with another vision of a perfectly imperfect society. This author has such a knack for imagining these futuristic worlds and I'm always intrigued by her ingenuity.
This newest novel of hers takes readers on a journey with Sonya Kantor, a young lady just trying to make the most of her time in the prison sector she's been relegated to. Then, out of nowhere, someone from her past changes her life's direction, and she becomes just a little more dauntless (oh c'mon, I couldn't resist a Divergent reference)!
Okay, I'll admit, in my opinion, it would be nearly impossible to reach the level of the first 2 novels in the Divergent series - I was a HUGE fan. So, although Chosen Ones, and now Poster Girl are unique and fascinating, I won't say they're my absolute favorite of hers. However, this novel really piqued my curiosity and I truly enjoyed the unforeseen twists. Sonya was a force to be reckoned with and I appreciated her candor (oh shoot, there I go again๐ - IYKYK). All in all, it was a solid dystopian novel with well-thought-out world building and unique characters (although some could've been more well developed, tbh).
I read it in just a couple of days, so it definitely kept my attention from the get-go.
