I was taken aback when, midway through this memoir, I learned that it was published back in 1955, as it is still so valid in our day and age. It is astonishing to me that we as women, hold so dear, many of the same values and needs from generation to generation. It was a novel concept back in the time this was written, for women to take time off for themselves, to reboot and renew. So, Anne Morrow Lindbergh was a pioneer for her time, as she took a short respite from her responsibilities at home, to reassess her life. Lindbergh has a soft, nostalgic rhythm to her writing, and this memoir was beautifully written, and artfully conveyed.
